Alejandrina Salcedo joined the BIS Representative Office for the Americas in October 2025 following an extensive career at the Bank of Mexico, where she held senior positions within the General Directorate of Economic Research for more than a decade. Most recently, she served as General Director and Chief Economist from 2022 to 2025. In 2018, she was Chief Economist and Head of the Economic Planning Unit at the Mexican Ministry of Finance. She has ample experience in topics including inflation, labour markets, monetary policy, public finance and real and external sector dynamics. Her research has been published in academic journals and official publications. She holds a PhD in economics from Stanford University.
