Sang Hyuk Lim joined the BIS as a visiting economist from the Bank of Korea in March 2025. At the Bank of Korea, he worked as an economist in the Payment and Settlement Department and the Digital Currency Research Division (2020–24), where he conducted research on topics related to digital currencies, fintech, and the digital innovation of payment systems. His work included exploring the implications of tokenisation for central banks and contributing to policy discussions on the future of payment systems. He earned his MSc in fintech from the University of Birmingham in 2023.
