Kumar Rishabh joined the BIS in 2025. His research focuses on banking, fintech, and the economics of data and artificial intelligence. He was a Postdoctoral Researcher at HEC Lausanne, Department of Finance. He holds a PhD in Applied Economics from the University of Basel and completed his doctoral coursework at the Study Center Gerzensee. During his PhD, he visited NYU Stern School of Business. Prior to his PhD, he worked as an Economist at the Reserve Bank of India. He received the Young Economist Award from the Swiss Society of Economics and Statistics and a Doc. Mobility Fellowship from the Swiss National Science Foundation. He teaches courses on banking and fintech at the University of Basel and the University of Zurich.
