Johannes contributes to the FSI's outreach events programme and capacity development initiatives, including leading the BIS online course on finance, innovation and technology (BIS-FIT). He authors FSI papers on technology-related topics such as fintech, big tech, cryptoassets and artificial intelligence. He represents the BIS/FSI in international standard-setting bodies, currently serving on the BCBS Working Group on Financial Technology. Previously, he contributed to the IAIS Macroprudential Committee, the BCBS Market Risk Group, the Operational Resilience Working Group and the BCBS-IOSCO Working Group on Margining Requirements. Before joining the FSI, Johannes worked as a regulator at the Hong Kong Monetary Authority and the Austrian Financial Market Authority, and as a Financial Sector Expert at the IMF. He holds master’s degrees in economics and business administration, as well as a postgraduate diploma in Financial Market Supervision. In 2021, he was recognised as a leading next-generation banking regulation specialist by Global Banking Regulation Review.
