About the conference

The 15th BIS Annual Conference focused on "Long-term issues for central banks". The conference proceedings were published in BIS Papers No 92 in August 2017.

Central banks are operating within an environment of heightened uncertainty. The global political, economic and financial landscape continues to evolve influenced also by structural trends that pose long-term challenges. This year's conference investigated the following ones:

  • Inequality and globalisation
  • Financial structure and economic growth
  • Population ageing, debt and economic growth
