Where perspectives meet

Being part of the pioneering team that has been working to establish new BIS Innovation Hub has been most fulfilling. The BIS Innovation Hub (BISIH), as a unit of the BIS, is itself a novel innovation within the Central Banking community. The BISIH's mission is to identify and develop in-depth insights into trends in financial technology innovations of relevance to central banks and to spearhead pilots that lead to the development and prototyping of central banking public goods that leverages on technology.

In a nutshell, this is a job that gives us a chance to figure out what the next generation of central banking will be like.

It's work that puts us at the technological frontier to experiment and innovate, while also being able to draw readily on the rich analytical and research expertise that the BIS is renowned for and to tap into the cutting-edge work of our host central banks and other industry partners. In a nutshell, this is a job that gives us a chance to figure out what the next generation of central banking will be like and to do so in a collective, multilateral manner, which amplifies the reach and impact of our projects.

Within the BISIH, our approach to work is very dynamic. We have a work cadence that embraces agile and scrum processes and this enables us to work nimbly and to be evolutionary in our work. We have autonomy to innovate, to experiment and even to fail fast and to recalibrate our work and projects as needed. Consequently, no two days at the Hub are alike. We move from working on digital identities and cross border faster payment systems on one day, to running hackathons and building code for automated regulatory reporting the next.
