Alessandro Barbera joined the BIS headquarters in Basel in August 2020. Previously, he worked in the Economics department at the European Investment Bank. He has worked on a range of topics related to financial markets, systems and regulations, as well as microeconometric modelling. Mr Barbera holds a BSc in international economics and finance from Bocconi University, and an MSc in economics from University College London.
