Alan Villegas joined the BIS in August 2010 fresh out of graduate school, having worked for a few years in the Representative Office for the Americas before he moved to the headquarters in Basel. He has worked in a number of research projects related to financial markets, systems and regulations, as well as emerging market economies. Mr Villegas holds an MSc in economics from Mexico's Center for Economic Research and Teaching (CIDE).
