Any proposed use of BIS Material that do not meet the conditions as described in paragraph 2(b) of the terms and conditions requires written permission from the BIS.
You should submit a permission request using a permission request form. If it is incomplete, your permission request will not be processed and will be returned to you for more information.
This depends on the nature of the request and the number of other permission requests received by the BIS. In some cases, we may need to refer the permission request to the author or authors of the work for their consent, which may take time. Therefore, we ask you to submit your request as early in your editorial process as possible.
As a general rule, there is no charge to reproduce or translate BIS material, although there may be certain exceptions (eg for a publication in which copyright is held jointly by the BIS and another organisation which has a policy of charging a fee for reproductions or translations).
The following guidelines apply to permission requests for use of BIS Material (other than the statistics displayed under the "Statistics" tab). They must be satisfied before the BIS will be in a position to approve your permission request. The BIS reserves the right to alter these guidelines at any time.
While approval will generally be given if the above guidelines are followed, the BIS nevertheless reserves the right to refuse permission requests for any reason whatsoever.
The use of statistics displayed under the "Statistics" tab is permitted, provided it meets the conditions set out in the "Terms of permitted use of BIS statistics". No other use is permissible.
