A key international initiative of relevance to central bank statistics is the Statistical Data and Metadata eXchange (SDMX) standard. SDMX is an ISO standard that facilitates the seamless exchange, production and dissemination of statistical data and metadata between and within organisations. This standard provides an integrated approach enabling interoperable implementations for information systems dealing with the exchange and processing of statistical data and their related metadata.
This report presents the results of a comprehensive survey on the adoption of and interest in SDMX among central banks. The objectives were threefold: to assess the current state of SDMX implementation, measure its adoption rate and gain insights into the usage and requirements of SDMX tools across various statistical processes. The survey results, summarised in this report, provide a detailed understanding of central banks’ experiences and needs related to SDMX.
