The Workshop on Data Requirements for Analysing the Stability and Vulnerability of Mature Financial Systems co-sponsored in June 2005 by the Bank of Canada and the IFC has illustrated that the Committee can go beyond the informal organisation of meetings on a general topic of interest to central bank statisticians, to structuring a more organised and policy-oriented discussion on a specific statistical issue of concern to central banks, from either a financial or monetary stability perspective. Indeed, the findings of the workshop, as included in this Bulletin, have already been shared with other BIS-based groups and will provide input into ongoing discussions on improving the data for financial stability analysis in many central banks and international organisations.
