The Basel Committee on Banking Supervision today published assessment reports on Australia, Canada, Japan, Korea, Switzerland and the United Kingdom’s implementation of the Committee’s leverage ratio framework (LEV).
Australia, Japan, Korea and Switzerland were assessed as compliant with the Committee’s global standards, the highest overall grade. Canada and the United Kingdom were assessed as largely compliant, which is one notch below the highest overall grade.
These assessments form part of the Committee’s Regulatory Consistency Assessment Programme (RCAP), which evaluates the consistency and completeness of Basel standards’ implementation across member jurisdictions. With the publication of these reports, the Committee has concluded the first round of multi-jurisdictional assessments of the leverage ratio.
In line with its work programme, the Committee initiated in H1 2026 jurisdictional assessments of the Basel III revisions to risk-weighted assets and continues to assess the implementation of the leverage ratio.
