The overarching theme for the 2022 ICBS was financial technology and its implications for banks and banking supervision.
Day one started with the keynote speech by the Committee Chair and will be followed by a panel discussion with practitioners, industry and academia. The sessions focused on understanding how new technologies such as cryptoassets and decentralised finance (DeFi) will shape the future of banking and finance, and consequently banking supervision. Day one has been livestreamed and open to the public.

Day two included three different time zone panel discussions with supervisors focused on (i) blurring of the regulatory perimeter between banks and non-financial institutions; (ii) cryptoassets and how regulation and supervision should be adapted for new technologies; and (iii) DeFi and stablecoins and their implications for the future of banking and finance.
