About the conference

The 13th BIS Annual conference focused on "Debt" and was held in Lucerne on 27 June 2014. 

The conference took stock of what we have learned post-crisis about debt dynamics and explore the corresponding financial stability and monetary policy challenges from a global perspective. Specific issues included:

  • Understanding the role of debt in the financial system
  • The global financial cycle: policy challenges
  • Credit booms and domestic policy risks
  • Deleveraging, the debt overhang and crises - what next?

The proceedings of the conference were published in the BIS Papers No 80 in January 2015.
