Egon Zakrajšek joined the BIS in August 2019. Between 1995 and 1999, he worked as an economist at the research department of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. In August 1999, he joined the Federal Reserve Board, where he worked as a Senior/Principal Economist in the Division of Monetary Affairs. In 2006, he became the chief of the division's Banking Analysis section, and in 2007, he was appointed to the Board's official staff. Between 2007 and 2019, he held various senior roles in the Division of Monetary Affairs, most recently as a Senior Adviser. Egon is a CEPR Research Fellow and a Research Fellow at the Centre for Finance, Credit and Macroeconomics at the University of Nottingham. He has also taught economics at Columbia University and Johns Hopkins University. Egon holds a PhD in economics from New York University.
