Ben Gully became Secretary General of the Basel Committee on 14 August 2026. As Secretary General he is responsible for managing the operations of the Secretariat and assisting the Chair in representing the Committee externally.
Before joining the BCBS, Mr Gully was the Deputy Superintendent at Canada’s Office for the Superintendent of Financial Institutions, where he managed the Supervision Sector. He has more than 25 years’ experience in bank regulation and supervision. Prior to his most recent role at OSFI, he served as the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority’s Chief Risk Officer. He began his career in the Bank of England’s financial stability area.
Mr Gully holds both a Doctorate and a Master of Arts in economics from the University of St Andrews as well as a Master of Science in economics from the University of Glasgow
