Mr Fukui assumes the chairmanship of the Euro-currency Standing Committee

At their meeting in Basle on 9th September 1996 the Governors of the central banks of the Group of Ten countries appointed Mr. Toshihiko Fukui, Senior Deputy Governor of the Bank of Japan, as Chairman of the Euro-currency Standing Committee. Mr. Fukui will assume the chairmanship in January 1997, succeeding Mr. Andrew D. Crockett, General Manager of the Bank for International Settlements.
