About the IFC

The Irving Fisher Committee on Central Bank Statistics (IFC) is a forum of central bank economists and statisticians, as well as others who want to participate in discussing statistical issues of interest to central banks. The IFC is established and governed by the international central banking community and operates under the auspices of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS). It is associated with the International Statistical Institute (ISI).

On 12 September 2016 the BIS All Governors' meeting approved the appointment of Claudia Buch as Chair of the Irving Fisher Committee on Central Bank Statistics (IFC) for a three-year term. Ms Claudia Buch has been Vice President of the Deutsche Bundesbank since May 2014, being responsible for the Directorates General Financial Stability, Audit and Statistics. The 9th biennial IFC Conference on "Are post-crisis statistical initiatives completed?" will take place at the BIS in Basel on 30-31 August 2018

Recent activities and publications

8 January 2018:
The BIS All Governors' meeting approved the publication of the 2017 IFC Annual Report.

December 2017: The proceedings of the IFC-National Bank of Belgium Workshop on "Data needs and Statistics compilation for macroprudential analysis" in Brussels on 18-19 May 2017 (programme) were published in the IFC Bulletin No 46.

October 2017: The proceedings of the IFC-ECCBSO-CBRT Conference on "Uses of Central Balance Sheet Data Offices' information", co-organised by the IFC, the European Committee of Central Balance Sheet Data Offices (ECCBSO) and the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) in Özdere-İzmir, Turkey, on 26 September 2016 (programme) were published in the IFC Bulletin No 45.

September 2017: The proceedings of the IFC Satellite meeting on "Big Data" at the ISI Regional Statistics Conference 2017, co-organised with Bank Indonesia, in Bali on 21 March 2017 (programme) were published in the IFC Bulletin No 44.

February 2017: The proceedings of the IFC Satellite meeting in cooperation with the Central Bank of Brazil and the Centre for Latin American Monetary Studies (CEMLA) on "Assessing international capital flows after the crisis", in Rio de Janeiro, on 24 July 2015 (programme, photo) were published in the IFC Bulletin No 42.
