Economist, Representative Office for the Americas

Where perspectives meet

I currently work in Mexico City at the BIS's Representative Office for the Americas. The office is in charge of coordinating and overseeing activities such as conferences, research networks, and study groups, on issues affecting American economies and global financial stability. In addition to the office activities, my research focuses on international capital flows and the foreign exchange market.

I greatly enjoy the interaction with top experts in macroeconomics and finance from central banks around the world.

I greatly enjoy the interaction with top experts in macroeconomics and finance from central banks around the world. No other institution offers this kind of access. A second attraction of my work is related to the BIS's mandate, which is to foster cooperation and build bridges between central banks around the world. This mandate is embedded in each activity we are involved in, which means that your work has a real impact on promoting financial and macroeconomic stability globally.

Being born and raised in Mexico City I am really grateful to have the opportunity to work here. This is a great, cosmopolitan city. You will find a wide choice of restaurants serving unparalleled delicious food, alongside cafés, bars and clubs. In addition, Mexicans are the kindest, most welcoming, and warmest people you could encounter. They make it easy to integrate for you and your family.

Most of our economists, researchers and statisticians are located in Basel but we also have these roles at our representative offices in Hong Kong SAR and Mexico.
