Tania Romero joined the BIS in 2013 and has worked on a variety of research projects related to financial markets, emerging market economies and financial stability. Before joining the Departmental Research Support unit in Basel, she was working at the BIS Representative Office for the Americas as part of the Economics for Latin America and the Caribbean group. Ms Romero holds a BS in actuarial science from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México and a MSc in economics from the Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económicas (CIDE) in Mexico.
