Sebastian Doerr joined the BIS in 2019. His research interests cover financial intermediation and macroeconomics, with a focus on how innovation affects the financial sector and the economy. He holds a PhD in economics from the University of Zurich. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Munich and his master's degree in economics and finance from the Barcelona Graduate School of Economics. During his PhD, he visited the University of California, Los Angeles, and worked at the International Monetary Fund in Washington DC. Sebastian Doerr was awarded the European Economic Association's "Young Economist Award", as well as the "Young Innovators Award" at the Vordenker Forum.
