
Jean-Philippe Svoronos
Jean-Philippe Svoronos joined the FSI on 1 March 2003 as Senior Financial Sector Specialist and member of the FSI Connect Team. He is in charge of developing tutorials on a wide range of banking supervisory issues. He is also a member of two working groups of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision (BCBS): the Working Group on Disclosures and the Working Group on Ratings and Securitisation. Prior to his current position, Mr Svoronos was a member of the BCBS Secretariat when the Basel II framework was being designed. Between February 2000 and February 2003, he participated in various BCBS working groups, including the Working Group on the Standardised Approach and the Working Group on the Securisation Framework. Mr Svoronos joined the Bank of France in February 1990 and worked for the Banking Commission (Commission Bancaire) as field officer for investment banks, as deputy head of the Large International Banks Division and as head of the Foreign Banks Division until February 1996. Between 1996 and 1998 he also worked for Société Générale, a large French bank, as a financial engineer. Mr Svoronos has a degree in law from the University of Paris-Nanterre and graduated from the Institute of Political Studies in Paris (Institut d'études Politiques de Paris).
