Abstract

This paper deals with all gold location exchanges - both physical shipments and location swaps between depositories - organised by the Bank for International Settlements from 1st June 1938 to 31st May 1945, whether for its own account or for the account of its customers. All figures and data given here were taken from BIS records that are available for consultation by researchers at the Bank's offices in Basel. All factual data (including the lists in appendix) have been certified by Coopers & Lybrand, London. Their examination certificate can be found at the end of this Note.
