Amando M Tetangco Jr appointed Chair of the BIS Asian Consultative Council

The Board of Directors of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) has appointed Amando M Tetangco Jr as Chair of the BIS Asian Consultative Council (ACC). Mr Tetangco is Governor of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, the central bank of the Philippines. His appointment follows a proposal to the Board by ACC Governors and is for a term of two years from 1 April 2014.

Mr Tetangco succeeds Choongsoo Kim, Governor of the Bank of Korea, who has chaired the Council since October 2012. The BIS Board and ACC Governors expressed their gratitude to Mr Kim for his leadership during his time as Chair.

The ACC comprises the Governors of the BIS member central banks in the Asia-Pacific region.1  It facilitates communication between these central banks and the BIS Board and Management on matters of interest to the central banking community in Asia and the Pacific. It also provides guidance for the research and banking activities of the BIS Representative Office for Asia and the Pacific in Hong Kong SAR. The BIS Asian Office serves as the secretariat for the ACC.


1 The BIS member central banks represented in the ACC are those of Australia, China, Hong Kong SAR, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand.
