nominal effective exchange rate (NEER)

Weighted average of bilateral exchange rates. BIS-calculated NEERs are geometric trade-weighted averages of bilateral exchange rates. An increase in the index indicates an appreciation. See also "effective exchange rate" and "real effective exchange rate".
