In my current work in the BIS Communications unit, I manage all the projects related to the BIS external website. This includes dealing with external consultants, software evaluation and requirements gathering, as well as helping with web communications workshops.
Before joining the BIS, I worked in Colombia, my native country, in the IT department of the central bank. A few years later, I was awarded a Czech government-sponsored scholarship to do my doctorate and moved to Prague, where I worked in the private sector as a project and quality assurance manager.
One bonus of my work is the opportunity to test and implement new technologies and methodologies. I enjoy the friendly work environment and highly appreciate it that my ideas are listened to and considered by my colleagues and managers. Because of the nature of my work, I enjoy exposure to other fields of expertise (for instance, communications, economics, visual design and recruitment). I enjoy learning about other people's work.
As a person who loves to travel, I find central Europe a very convenient place to live, and I like the European lifestyle. Speaking of Basel, I appreciate the calm and ease of a small city.
