Dubravko Mihaljek has been Head of Macroeconomic Analysis at the BIS since 2011. Previously he was Head of Emerging Markets (2010-11) and a senior economist (1999-2010). He analyses developments in emerging markets and the global economy, and organises central bank meetings on monetary policy and financial stability issues. Before joining the BIS, he was an economist and senior economist in the Fiscal Affairs, European and Asian Departments of the IMF in Washington DC (1990-99). From 1982 to 1989, he worked as an assistant research fellow at the Economics Institute in Zagreb. He studied economics at the University of Pittsburgh (PhD, 1990), the University of Minnesota (MA, 1986) and the University of Zagreb (BA, 1981).
