Mr Stephen Cecchetti was appointed Economic Adviser and Head of the Monetary and Economic Department on 1 July 2008.
Prior to joining the BIS, Mr Cecchetti was the Barbara and Richard M Rosenberg Professor of Global Finance at the Brandeis International Business School. Previously, he held various other positions, including Executive Vice President and Director of Research at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, Professor of Economics at Ohio State University, and editor of the Journal of Money, Credit and Banking.
Mr Cecchetti was educated at MIT in 1977 and the University of California at Berkeley, where he received a PhD in economics in 1982.
He is married with two children.
